For most people, Champagne has long been the choice to mark life’s grand triumphs, but connoisseurs agree that English sparkling wine is perfectly poised to compete favourably, after it gained a prestigious international award. The white sparkling wine from Sussex became the first sparkling wine to be crowned at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2025, as one of the Top 50 wines of the world. The Trouble with Dreams 2009, won a Best in Show medal, a feat that champagne has never achieved in the 1.5 bottle format (the equivalent of two standard 750ml bottles.)
