100% Barbera
Bel Colle owns about one hectare of Barbera in Bionzo, a small town overlooking the Tinella Valley which divides the hills of the eastern Langhe from the Monferrato Astigiano. The rows rise in a warm, well exposed and extremely dry area, leading the bunches to early ripening and to have large concentrations. Here Barbera d’Asti DOCG Superiore Nuwanda is born, the Indian term for “Spirit of strength”.
Grapes are manually selected and harvested in little baskets. In the cellar they are destemmed and put into stainless steel tanks where the fermentation and maceration take place at controlled temperature. Wine is then aged in small and medium French oak barrels for 12 months at least.
A single vineyard of great power, full-bodied, rightly alcoholic, which while preserving the acidity of the Barbera grape variety is expressed according to an all-Mediterranean warmth, full and enveloping, with fruity and persistent hints. Very dark garnet colour with lively reflections; Concentrated scent, with hints of blackberry jam and cranberry with fresh finish; in the mouth, compact, fruity, persistent, fresh with sustained acidity, typical of the vine. Tasting temperature: 18°C
Meal coupling: very good with first course, grilled or baked red meat, and soft, medium-to-very mature cheese.
