IDDA Rosso, Etna DOP

2022

Primarily Nerello Mascalese, sometimes blended with Nerello Cappuccio.

Gaja Idda Etna Rosso is a high-end Italian red wine from Sicily, made by the Gaja family in partnership with the Graci family on the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna. It is primarily composed of the indigenous grape Nerello Mascalese, which is grown in volcanic soil and produces a wine with a mineral-rich, elegant profile.

Aged in a combination of oak and concrete, with some vintages aged for 24 months in oak, the wine is known for its aromas of red berries, spices, and a hint of minerality, with a smooth, balanced palate and a long, persistent finish.

This is an elegant, complex wine that pairs well with grilled meats, game, and aged cheeses. It is often compared to wines like Pinot Noir or Barolo due to its elegance and structure, as noted by Wine Folly.
