The grapes are de-stemmed and undergo both primary and malolactic fermentation at controlled temperature (28-30° C) in steel and cement tanks. The wine has then aged in both cement and oak casks of varying size for at least 6 months.
Lagrein is one of the oldest indigenous varieties in Südtirol/Alto Adige. Typically ruby to garnet red in colour , Lagrein boasts a bouquet of violets and blackberries with
hints of cherry and earthy notes. It is a full-bodied wine, which on the palate tastes of raspberries, dark cherries, bittersweet chocolate, black liquorice and spices, supported by powerful tannins and a long finish.
Pairs well with hearty Tyrolean culinary delights and is the perfect partner for game and red meat. Also serve it with English steak or hard or savoury cheeses.
